QDMA Press Release

QDMA Publishes the Most
Comprehensive Food Plot Guide Ever
Bogart, Ga. – The Quality Deer Management Association has published the most comprehensive food plot guide ever produced. “Quality Food Plots – Your Guide to Better Deer and Better Deer Hunting” is available now from QDMA for only $34.95, plus shipping.

More than two years in the making, “Quality Food Plots” includes 14 chapters, written by nearly a dozen of the nation’s top experts on whitetail nutrition, that cover every element of food plots. Hundreds of color photos, charts, illustrations and sidebars supplement the landmark text. The 324-page volume also includes profiles of 37 of the most common food plot species, with a quick-reference panel for each profile.

Chapters include “Understanding Whitetail Nutrition,” “Understanding Soils and Soil Fertility,” “Planting Methods,” “Selecting the Right (Forage) Mixtures,” “Monitoring Food Plots,” “Hunting Food Plots,” and several others.

The book’s editors are Kent Kammermeyer, formerly Deer Project Leader for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources; Dr. Karl V. Miller, professor of wildlife ecology and management at the University of Georgia; and Lindsay Thomas Jr., QDMA Director of Publications and a 20-year veteran of Quality Deer Management practices.

Kammermeyer, Miller and Thomas also wrote chapters for “Quality Food Plots,” as did Dr. Craig A. Harper of the University of Tennessee; Wildlife Biologist and QDMA Executive Director Brian Murphy; Professional Soil Scientist Phil Freshley; Research Agronomist Dr. W. Carroll Johnson III, of the Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton, Ga.; and Dr. Jim Wills Jr., also of the University of Tennessee.

Certified Wildlife Biologist and QDMA Founder Joe Hamilton wrote the book’s Foreword, and Dr. Craig Dougherty, Chairman of the QDMA Board of Directors, also contributed a chapter. Other contributors include biologists and consultants Dr. Grant Woods, Bryan Kinkel, Phil Anderson, Brian Sheppard and Rans Thomas.

A Directory of Services in “Quality Food Plots” provides readers with contact information for the leading suppliers of food plot seed, equipment, consulting and other services. Without question, this is the most comprehensive, easy-to-use food plot book ever published.
