QDMA Honors Virginia
Conservation Officer
Bogart, Ga. – Virginia Officer John Cobb received the inaugural QDMA Wildlife Office of the Year Award during the QDMA National Convention and Whitetail Expo, in Valley Forge, Pa. The award was created to recognize a state conservation officer whose dedication to and enthusiasm for his work makes a real difference.
Cobb has served in a Virginia officer since July 1995. He has made more than 25,000 checks of hunting and fishing licenses and boat registrations, and more than 2,500 career arrests – all without a formal complaint.
In addition, he has completed nearly 1,000 hours of service in Virginia’s Hunter Education Program; developed and taught multiple training programs at Virginia’s Law Enforcement Academy; has been named Virginia Region V Game Warden of the Year twice; and earned the Fraternal Order of Police Appreciation Award.
“We are proud to honor Officer Cobb as our first Wildlife Officer of the Year,” QDMA Executive Director Brian Murphy said. “Everyone we spoke to made it clear that he is known as respectful and courteous in all of his public contacts, and he has earned a reputation for treating everyone fairly.”
