South Carolina’s Chip Salak is
2006 QDMA Volunteer of the Year
Bogart, Ga. – Chip Salak, of Cayce, S.C., has been named the Quality Deer Management Association’s 2006 Volunteer of the Year. Other finalists for this top QDMA individual service award included Eric Howard of Michigan, Randy Bowden of Georia. Terry and Martha Higgins of Delaware, and Guy and Judy Gardner of North Carolina.
“Volunteers are QDMA’s lifeblood,” said QDMA Executive Director Brian Murphy. “This is annually one of the toughest awared for us to select because we are blessed with so many members who dedicate themselves tirelessly to promoting better deer and better deer hunting through QDMA.
“Chip’s efforts, in particular, stand out this year,” Murphy added. “I congratulate him on the award and thank him on behalf of every QDMA member for his contributions.”
Salak is active in South Carolina’s Midlands Branch, and in State Chapter leadership. He has served as chapter president, and currently chairs the banquet committee.
He also has been very active in the branch’s youth-hunting outreach efforts. His guidance has helped the Midlands Branch take on a number of significant youth-oriented projects, hunts and events.
