QDMA Press Release
Connecticut Group Named
2007 QDMA New Branch of the Year
Bogart, Ga. – Connecticut’s Nutmeg State Branch has been named 2007 QDMA New Branch of the Year. Branch members accepted the award during the QDMA National Convention and Whitetail Expo, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
With 164 Branches in 33 states, QDMA annually honors a branch chartered in the preceding 12 months whose members worked effectively in education and fundraising to have an immediate impact on the area they serve. Other finalists included the Bachman Valley Branch, in Maryland; the Laurel Highlands Branch, in Pennsylvania; the Ozark Branch, in Missouri; and the South Central Kentucky Branch.
“The Nutmeg State Branch is a shining example of how volunteers can turn their excitement and enthusiasm into meaningful action,” said QDMA Director of Branch Development Gene Newman. “They held four educational events and a fundraising banquet in their very first year, and they actually spun off another Branch – the Connecticut River Valley Branch.
“They also got involved in efforts to pass Sunday hunting legislation in Connecticut, and they made a strong push to distribute the classroom version of the ‘Living With White-Tailed Deer’ education package throughout the state. We are proud to honor the members of our Nutmeg State Branch for their efforts.”
